Haven't been here for a while - there were about 3000 unread posts when I logged on! I haven't read back much, but will try and do so later.
Is anybody else apart from Shades doing Nottingham? I've actually squeezed in 5x20 and am now tapering, although one was a split session due to training partner injury (but the last 5 still felt like the last 5 of a 20!). Managed to fall over again 3 or 4 weeks ago, and knee was very painful for a while, but still managed 5M in 41:30 (I thought my Garmin must be lying - that's a faster pace than my 5K PB a couple of weeks before) and a half Marathon PB (1:59:37, previous PB 2:00:12, so finally sub-2 in pretty warm conditions at Newark). I think the resting/cross-training when I have injuries is actually better for me than high mileage, so might base training around Furman from now on. Not sure the marathon is going to be quite so pretty though. The 20 I did yesterday was quite tiring, although the previous 20 was a hillier route and didn't feel so bad, so perhaps it was just an off day.
Today is my last shift at work - back to Uni at the end of next month, and a bit of a holiday first. Still on the books to do casual shifts, but hoping to get a few more PT clients as it's more 'financially efficient' than gym work (ie pays more per hour!).
Good luck to all the racers this weekend. Might bimble round parkrun, but legs are a bit tired from the 20 still.
Flossie - my parents had a rescue cat with no teeth - he had a bit of a thing for the sugary milk at the bottom of cereal bowls and a previous owner had indulged him. He had no problem eating wet food.
Wondering if it's safe to come back on here with falls, thorns etc
Shades - was all that about pulling thorns out your foot retaliation for the toenail posts?
Have been having a few knee problems - seemed to flare up again after I'd taught spin, and then aggravated it by running up rutted grassy hills for a club intervals session (should have just said no, but there's something about club sessions that overmotivates me, so I have to avoid club altogether if I have any injury issues really).
But today did 20 miles at 10:08 pace - was pretty worn out for the last few, which includes a big hill at mile 18, but didn't have a nap afterwards which is good for me. Knee behaved. Looking good for Nottingham (touches wood anxiously).
Have had a hectic couple of weeks, hence absence (I haven't read through all the posts since then, but looked at the last couple of hundred). Went on a course, and came back to work to find some changes were being made which weren't terribly legal. And now Mr RB has announced he's planning to resign. He was stuck in a crap hotel and had had no sleep, so I'm hoping he'll be a bit more sensible once he gets some proper rest. I am particularly needing the knee to behave right now, because if I can't go running, I may kill someone.
