Congrats to Andi on a shiny new PB - good luck with the new regime.
DrDan, there is always going to be some slow-down at the end (unless you are elite!) so it's all about decreasing the slow-down to a minimum. I think the long progressive runs help with this, both physically and psychologically. Well done on a great effort! And all the best with the next one!!
VT, Hope you come out unscathed after the 10k.
Next big hurdle for me today. First consecutive run since my PF. 45mins yesterday felt ok, see how I cope with 60mins today.
Dan, that's hard core. Hope it all goes to plan. I guess you will run at close to 80%?
Seems quite popular this running a mara as prep for another. I suppose it's an "easy" way of doing a mega long run - company and refreshments provided. Weather forecast looks ideal, cloudy 15' with a gentle 4mph Southerly breeze.
Chick, how long have you been in Germany, and what do you do for work?
Bunnybeach, Good news on the back. I am still struggling to comprehend your conversion from 45min runs to 400m intervals - you must be seriously fast twitch!!!
VT, Sounds like your lurgy is on it's way out. Careful with the PT.
Andi, Fingers crossed that you recover from the bug in time. Hope it goes to plan on sunday.
Dan, good numbers on your 75% 10miler. Good luck for Sunday. Which marathon you doing?
I didn't run Saturday, got a call from the 3rd team to play cricket (last game of season). Went for a 90min bike ride with Brian jnr on Sunday. So did 40min run on Monday and it was incident free. Will try a 50min run today but very gentle (70%ish).
VT, hope you got away with a 24hr thingy. Great 18 miler too.
Apologies for not posting. As well as the injury problems I have been very busy at the Cricket Club, where I am VP and an active coach. Lots of admin work. We had an arson attack on the May bank holiday and we have had a huge operation refurbishing. Plus we had agreed to stage the League Showpiece Cup Final on August Bank Holiday Sunday so there was a lot of panic in getting the Club repaired and the ground ready. Anyway everything went really well and all parties were suitably impressed.
Coupled with the fact I am being made redundant. Original date was 6th August but have had 2 extensions, I am now due to finish 28th November. So a lot of sh*t going down, and applying for jobs etc etc.
Sounds like you guys have been doing fine without me anyways......
