chip time, I was in the group so I checked their numbers and times from the pics, 3 45 07 3 45 01. I know they were on course for 3 42 and slowed it down a bit in the last couple of miles. I did 3 48 14 and pb'd by a minute and half.
I think they did an excellent job, pushed me all the way, they slowly pulled away in the last mile.
public transport in Europe is nothing like uk, Berlin has trains every couple of minutes, it's so easy to get around you just don't think about it. I've no transport over or hotels booked yet, looking at a 3 45.
Just join the faster coral, I doubt they'll even notice. Corals are important in Berlin though because it's so busy and crowded you don't want to get caught out in a slower or faster group.
3 45 pacers finished in 3 45, I was with them for most of the race and they were excellent, constantly shouting encouragement to everyone, handing out gels, and they never shut up.
I thought the course was excellent with some decent hills, especially St Domingo and Parliament St testing the legs, plenty of good views of the city, Mathew St could have been cleaned up though, The parks and the football grounds, and the Pier Head. Support was a bit sparse but lots of cheering and encouragment from those that did turn out, the finish crowd was excellent and lifted me in to a pb. Finish area could'nt be faulted, out of the sun in the cool arena then a free pint and a concert, loads of food and beer on sale and proper toilets in the albert dock at start and in the arena at finish.
