returning from berlin marathon and stopped off in brussels, didn't realise this race was on till we saw them setting up, the grand place band was excellent, really gave a boost to the runners and they didn't start playing till about 4 hours looked great race apart from those cobbles...
yes done it 5 times, there's usually something goes wrong, every one says it's a fast course but I've not had a good run at it yet. Biggest downer I find is that Edinburgh and East Lothian people don't want these big races whereas Berlin loves it's marathon
just back, spent a couple of days in brussels, yesterday we saw metal fences closing the roads off, marathon and half marathon going on, would have been a good post berlin half marathon if I'd known...lots of cobble stones though so maybe a good idea to miss it..as for my next one I've no idea, I didn't get a place in London so thinking of Edinburgh as it's my local but definatly think I'm not doing anymore overseas marathons, maybe not anymore marathons the training takes too much time..
the whole of berlin seems to be one big toilet to be honest, I've been to the beer festival and the amount of people drinking and the amount of toilets is a joke, the toilets have either a female or a male stopping access and asking for money, I wonder if they are just hassling people for money...they stand and watch you piss if you don't pay! I just ignored them and went for a piss...either that or do what every one else does and piss in the street.
