Did this race back in 2012 and in a sick way loved every minute of it. Was all set on entering the outlaw until i took the lads up to ironkids. Then seeing the red carpet brought the emotions back from 12 month earlier. So as soon as enteries opened on friday i threw my hat in the ring and will be back looking to improve on my last time.
After seeing the support and atmosphere created by the pirates at this years race i've decided that this will be my A race for 2014. After 2 attempts at ironman ( 1 fail, 1 success) i have taken a year off so will be starting from scratch. All my training to date has been done solo. So this time round i'm looking to be more involved with others to better my experiance on race day.
This should probably be posted on the triathlon section but wanted the input of locals.
I have had one successful and one unsuccessful attempts at iron distance racing. I have taken this year off to help plan my up coming wedding. I hope to be having another go at going long next year so am going to start building my base up soon. my question is what is the best use of my training time? should I try and improve the 3 disciplines individually in separate blocks of training or try for an even spread. I'm aiming to be racing next July/August so have 12 plus months to train. I don't have 1 strong discipline as I am equally weak across all 3.
I live in chesterfield so like I said earlier wanted the input of local people.
I also want to apologise for asking triathlon questions on a running forum.
