Well done to everyone.   Very big respect to all the 100 ers.  If I didn't say it on the way past, I was very much thinking it...but too tired and sore to speak.

Thankyou to whoever gave the tip about the OMM stuff, (cute black and white dog take note, don't want you ranting at me), would never have thought of checking e bay.  managed to get a cheap OMM kamleika (?) smock.  I'm just hoping it is the real thing. or I will look quite silly.....I was planning to wear my 20 year old pac a mac, but wasn't sure how that would go down with the kit checkers....

Thanks for the shoe advice jimmy and haile - much appreciated.

The Salomons get brilliant reviews, so look to be a good investment.  I'm now getting blisters from my road shoes (for the first time) and feeling so panicky about the whole thing I'm having palpitations every time I look on the lakeland 50 website......

I think the course might be on 2 OS maps, but they should be easily bought in ambleside/kendal.  I got mine in Lancaster.

Have a great weekend - hope it's not TOO hot.

please may I chip in and ask some advice about shoes....I'm training in trail shoes (inov8), but finding that my hips and knees are in bits once I'm running over 20 miles.   As a newcomer to this sort of running, is this just to be expected, with the up/down hills???Or should I rethink my footwear???

I note on the Lakeland 50 website, that the expert chap is saying that road shoes would be ok for the 50....but I'm a bit scared of breaking a leg which would be most inconvenient...
