I'm with you! Over the last year or so I have really become bored and fed up with running. I finally got into the London marathon after many years of collecting rejections, so I ran that, but didn't really train very hard and got a poor time. Since then I have decided to stop running for a while. Not forever, but for a bit - till I feel like I want to. Instead I'm doing other things - swimming a bit, doing aerobics, anything to keep some degree of fitness. I'm also trying to lost a few pounds which have crept on. Then I'll see. If in a couple of months I want to run again I'll put my trainers back on. Otherwise - I don't think it's worth making a stressful life worse by doing something which doesn't give you pleasure. It's hard to feel like you are allowed to give up for a bit - especially if you've been running regularly for years (never gone more than a week without running in over five years till now), but now (three weeks into not running) I feel like it was the right thing to do at the moment. I also have a demanding job, a partner and a mother with health needs, and 3 school age kids. It sounds like you've had a lot on in your life recently. Well done on the new job and I hope your husband makes a full recovery. But give yourself a break. |

Nice runnign Prawnie. Just weighed myself for this week - one pound heavier despite starvation rations. Big wobbly bottoms. Good luck ITB! |

ITB. Sounds like great training. I'm sure nothing could possibly go wrong. As I understand it, it's all about a positive mental attitude, anyway. Training, fitness, etc are just icing on the cake. I don't think you need to worry about England making the final. I hope that isn't treason. |

Ummm - break a leg? If that's the expression. Good luck ITB. Is that Outlaw? It's quite near me so if I can make it I might come and cheer. I'm down another pound and three quarters this week - no running at all, though some other activity. I'm definitely able to eat less when I'm not taking much exercise so maybe this is the way to go for me, and then gradually build in more exercise as I get to the weight I want to be (still at least 9 pounds to go). GFB - how's your running going? Which HM are you doing? |

Well done GFB on weight loss and on your training. I like the sound of egg noodles. I've really enjoyed using pearl barley in the last couple of weeks - a veg soup with pearl barley in is filling and yummy and pretty low calorie. I'm not running very much at the moment. I've been running fairly consistently for the last 6 years and now I'm not feeling the love. Maybe I should sign up for a half or something jsut to keep motivated. |
