Hi, I'm doing the Elmbridge 10k on Sunday morning (24th July) and it's a bit of an awkward place to get to without a car (or bike) from Putney. Need to get a train to Walton-on-Thames then it's 2 mile or so distance to the venue. As it stands I have to get up ridiculously early (5.30ish) to catch a train to get me there in good time for 9am start - and you cannot always rely on Sunday service!
So I'm wondering if anyone also doing the race can offer me a lift to the race venue that morning to save a lot of hassle, I'm happy to throw in a few pounds contribution towards cost of petrol and a post-race coffee. Would be much appreciated!
Great run Aikon. I was looking for 1:37 or thereabouts too, but would have more likely got it by starting a lot slower and doing negative splits which was my tactic in Brighton. It's easy to get pulled along by faster people. Well done Sheila too, 6 mins is a big improvement, think the weather was actually pretty perfect for the race.
That's a shame Tim. I started further forward to avoid the bulk of the throng but then you get caught up in a pace which you cannot sustain. Really wanted to stop and walk in the second part but forced myself to keep going albeit at much slower pace.
Well done guys. I was not so lucky today. Committed the schoolboy error of going off too fast, thinking I could maintain a 1:36 pace when my PB is 1:39. Fell short of that by four mins in the end. Had paid an extra quid for the result by text which never came, so that was a bit disappointing too.
