Last night's run was good with work. Was meant to be 800m reps along the side of the lake. I measured the distance on map my run but when it came to running it I was out and back in 3 mins 30m, so the distance was WAY OUT and more like 350m I think, so just ended up doing them a few more times. Was good except that i realise that some dog walkers (and dogs) dont wear reflective stuff in teh dark. How was I supposed to know that there was a black poodle under feet before I tripped over him.
Runners wear hi viz so they can be seen, why can't dog walkers do the same and prevent the runners, running into them!?
Why: have tight calves from thurs, sun and tuesday so should really get them sorted.
Some great results from over the weekend - SGQ PB and a win for hilly, not to forget a well done to Wardi.
Hello to SSING!
TMR - He's a border collie and settling in great now - I'm getting used to him too! And yep he will be joining be running when he's a bit older and hopefully on the mountain bike (not on the bike pedalling as that would be very clever but running behind me)
Got my bum into gear at the weekend and managed Clowne HM. It was the first HM I did 2 years ago - so at least I knew I was going to end with a course PB....
When I set my foot out the doorI was soooo tempted to knock it off - it was sleeting and miserable, but I'd entered and got everything ready and as it happens it cleared up fantastic by the time I got there. It's a nice hilly course with no flat bits. I managed to tag onto a group running at just under 9 min/mi. I don't usually run this fast especially at the begining of a race but I thought I;d give it a shot. So.......kept it up until there was me and an older gentleman from NOTFAst keeping pace. He started to slow down at 8mile, but that's when I kick in usually - I remembered the route and knew after the long drag between 11 and 12, it was downhill. I was amazed I kept that speed up. Legs were fine, breathing resonably heavy. The last 800m was uphill, I just couldn't increase my speed but I knew I busted my PB by 5 mins and managed 1hr 57 mins.
I've decided to de-lurk and start contributing! Running has taken a bit a back burner lately since we got a new puppy, I've been looking after him on evevings and morning and getting up at 1 in the morning - so didn't seem to fit running in. However, I did Worksop HM a few weeks ago and felt awful, managed a full 2 minutes SLOWER than my usual HM time, then I did Barnsley 10k last wkend - again 20 secounds slower than last year. So that got me motivated to get back into it. Did my usual Tuesdy night run with work (hill session) and also went along to Clowne Road Runners last night....really good. Did 1 mile flat reps x3. Times were 8:11, 8:07, 8:16. Was tough but everyone was very nice and the coach actually seemed interested in what I'd done and what I wanted to achieved (it was a mixed club too - if anyone was wondering ). So...
Today: rest (40 min walk at lunch to lake side cafe)
Why: 2 hard sessions this week (weights mon, hills tues, club thurs) Hey if I keep this up, I might actually get better!
Last hard: Last night
Last rest: wednesday
Thought is was supposed to snow today - not at 7 degrees it wont
