Morning all from Brussels Car Free Day. Off to church in a bit and I'm not sure whether to go on a tram, by bike or just rollerblade it?! So many choices. I'm doing a 32km later, so will leave running out of it this time.
Fingers crossed I'll have my GFA entry confirmed for VLM, in which case, I might be very happy say, to run the second half of Paris in a party mode. Probably will depend on what Mrs TD's running plans are for next year and I doubt she'll decide on that until after we've bagged Amsterdam (4 weeks today!).
Went out and did a monster fast run yesterday as I'm completing my race prep. I set out to run a fast 10K inside a 15K run. It turned into 2 x 5k fast with a 1k breather. I did my 5Ks in 19:28 and 19:44 coming back and the whole 15K in 1:00:39 - I did a 20K race in 1:23:55 back in May, but really, this is without a doubt the fastest long distance I've ever run. It's starting to make me think I can be tantalisingly close to breaking 3 hours in the marathon, all other things working out.
Hi TD - some pretty fast running there, looks like you are giving yourself a chance of sub 3:00 in Amsterdam! I'm in Belgium too - celebrated no car day yesterday by running my own personal 20km de Bruxelles along the race route which was fun, if a bit weird doing it without 29999 others alongside!
Just did the Rotterdam marathon earlier this month, and did the Amsterdam half last year (I live in Brussels so they are pretty local for me).
After the pain of Rotterdam (my first mara) I'm still not quite sure why I've signed up to do it all over again this Autumn - perhaps it's the finish in the stadium at Amsterdam, I really like the idea of running into the stadium at the end, and past the crowds in the stands. Even for the 1/2 it was a great end to the race!
yes, I found it too hot as well! My legs ached all week, and I was telling myself never again. But the memory is fading now... & I've also started to think that maybe I could manage another marathon next year!
