I only managed 2:19 last year, which is about average for me for a Half. Seem to remember that it was very congested at the start with people having to run over grass verges, etc.
I think I might try starting right near the back this year, and just try to get into a rhythm. It would also be good to pass the occasional slower runner, rather than everyone pasing me...it's a bit demoralising....
Did this last year (badly). Can anyone remember a steep hill somewhere towards the end of this race? I remember looking up and seeing a hill, and feeling sick in the March sunshine....anyone remember how far from the finish line? i want to try to save myself for the hill this year.
Hi. I did this race last year. I remember there was a sizeable number of runners (certainly 1000+). This race started and finished at the athletics stadium next to Manchester City's football ground. It was basically 3 laps around the streets, with start/finish on the running track. I seem to remember it was a reasonably flat course, with one or two "undulations" but nothing too strenuous. Possibility of a PB. There were definitely runners of all abilities at this race. The other thing i remember is that the 3 laps around the streets got shorter each time. The first was about 5km, the second around 3km, and then the final lap just 2km back into the stadium. Hope this helps.
