Hey all, I am after some advise concerning a injury I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I have signed up for the Edinburgh marathon (my first!) next month and was going really well following a 16 week program I had managed to get up to 20 miles and was feeling good. The problem came when I pushed myself in a half marathon I ran a PB but the last 3 miles I felt a tightening in my achilles, not pain just uncomfortable. I had a week off and then ran 15 miles this weekend just gone, again the uncomfortable tightening occured towards the end. I have googled websites but the symptoms they say are of pain walking up and down stairs and first thing in the morning - I don't have any of that. I can walk fine, If I stretch my calves I can feel it is tight and if I get my fingers in the right place I can feel the area which is causing problems. Just to the right half way between my calf muscle and heel! I have booked in with my physio(but can't get in til next week) and am resting it now, I am just wondering if there is anything I can be doing to help it in the mean time or how long anyone thinks I will need to rest it and will I be able to compete in the marathon on the 22nd May? Please help?
