Not sure if anyone has any experience of this but here goes..
I've had a couple of injuries in the last year, grade 2 calf tear and ankle ligament strain - both on the inside of my right leg. I have also suffered from gout in my big toe on the right foot but despite taking medication for several years this has made my right foot roll outward or supinate..
I've finally bitten the bullet and seen a physio, they suspect that the gout and supination is the cause of my inner leg injuries. They have suggested off the shelf orthotics (the one for the right foot will be customised slightly) as well as some stretching and strengthening exercise.
However I'd be keen to know if anyone has any experience of this combination of problems and if the orthotics do actually help? Also, what sort of running shoes would anyone recommend especially for the orthotics?
Another well organised and, mostly, enjoyable half. Managed to strain my right calf (hence why it could have been better for me) but finished with a p.b. of 01:35:27 despite "hopping" along for about 3 miles after Anchor Road. Anyway, thanks to Bryan Dale once again for his cracking photos - sorry I wasn't smiling on Town Bridge
