I've yet to do a Marathon, but have signed up to the 2011 Exmoor 40 mile event. Should be a bit of a laugh! Just looking into getting my kit together. A good place to start for training is: http://www.ultramarathonrunning.com/ Some good advice there. An ultra is all about moving forwards. Big tip -only the elite elites would probably run the entire distance! So walking, jogging, walking, jogging will help you get round. Walk all the up hills, run the flats and downs; and you will be suprised how far you can actually go! Hydration packs are the order of the day, so to will be nutrition. Good luck Tom. |

I live in the countryside and it is dark before work in the morning and dark in the evening after work. There are no streetlights out here, the roads are single track. I daren't go out running in case I twist my ankle or a car doesn't see me due to all the running manufacturers failing to put adequate and correctly located reflective (not neon hi viz) bits on the black camaflauge leggins and tops. Any ideas? |

Why are manufacturers not putting much high viz on clothing? Do they want us to get killed? The best High viz gilet I've seen for the price (£11) seems to be: http://www.timetorun.co.uk/index.php?page=shop&action=viewproduct&pid=487&view= Others are around £30. The Ronhill Vizion - great Ican stick a flashing LED on the back, but with limited reflectivity elsewhere. Leggings - pit a little reflective stuff on the side - ok if a car is attacking from the side, but flippin useless for the regular cars coming from the front or rear! Oh woe is me! |
