Well since we have a treadmill at home I'm going to give it a try. I will go easy at it and report back if it works.
I do attend to my PF with all the stretches and exercises but feel confused by how I got it in the first place - I never used to wear footwear around the house and spent years doing barefoot type sports (martial arts) and never suffered then after 6 years of running with no discernible change I get PF. there has to be a reason so many runners get these kind of injuries...
Thanks for the advice on shoes budda.

Coming back from a long period off with PF. Having done a fair amount of reading around it seems many of the barefoot community have recovered from PF by a careful transition which helps the foot recover its strength. Has anyone had any experience of this and how did they go about it?. Logic would suggest that our bodies are designed to move well without shoes so do orthotics and motion control shoes and such like in reality cause injuries? I appreciate that there will be many views but has anyone on here benefited by trying this?

I've always sweated lots too no matter what age and activity - and used to be loads fitter than I am now. Keep up with it would be my advice as the heath benefits do start to outweigh the discomfort and with more running you will find that your responses change slightly. Also try cooling down before the shower and try different techniques to see which works best for you. I always have a 5 minute cool down walk and some stretches befor my shower to help.
Like some in here, myself included, you'll love the cooler more adverse weather - I hope you start to enjoy it otherwise you may want to try another firm of sport. There's no point doing something you don't enjoy - especially in your own time.

Thanks JF50 we ended up taking a trip to the same shop but the Manchester one as slightly nearer for us. We're looking at the Horizon 507 and did try the t5000 that you got. Very impressed with the turn up and try attitude...

Hope their aftersales is as good as suggested.

Thanks.

Hi all - been unable to run now for around 5 months due to the dreaded PF but have been icing my foot, stretching three times a day and visited a podiatrist.  Problem still there and since trying new orthotics getting worse - though I do expect a period of bedding in.

I am taking ibuprofen and stetching but very difficult to rest with two small children at home...

Have put on weight though so that will not help - hence my two quick questions.

Do those night splints work?  I would do anything to help this heal faster as nothing seems to help.

What exercise apart from cycling can I do?

Thanks for any help - from a very fed up, getting fatter and unfitter older runner.

Cheers

Jonathan
