I have run in quite a few races in France, although never the Paris Marathon. I always write my own letter, simply stating that I am fit and well to run. I do put a simple letter heading on the top with the name of my nearest medical practice. I then sign it with the name of a made up doctor. At the race it gets just a glance and off I go.

I haven't received my number or anything else in the post, yet. Is anyone else in this situation, please?

I did my first 20 miler of the year, yesterday. Everything went according to plan. I went to the Wrexham Half Marathon but set of 56 minutes before the race and ran 3.5 miles the wrong way. Turned round and ran 3.5 miles back to the start. I was only one minute late for the start of the race and then simply ran the half marathon in the company of runners (obviously, I had paid to run and had a number on).
I finished the 20 miles in 2hr 50m which was dead on my target time of eight and a half minutes per mile. I then proceeded to eat all of the Bara Brith that was in the goody bag, despite it not being sliced.
Good luck to everyone this week.

I have just come back from my speed session. 1200 x 2 at 6:18 per mile followed by 800 x 4 at 6:13 per mile. 2 mins recovery between each. It absolutely killed me.
On Sunday I am scheduled to do my first 20 mile run. I have also entered the Village Bakery Half marathon at Wrexham which kicks off at 11.00.
I intend to start at 10.00, running away from the start line for three and a half miles, turn round and run back to the start line. When I arrive back at the start I will have completed 7 miles and the race should have commenced about three minutes earlier. I will then run the HM, trying not to come last.
If anyone is due for a 20 miler on Sunday and runs this distance at about 8:25/mile pace and can get to Wrexham (they accept 'entry on the day'), I would certainly appreciate the company.

I have done this race for the last two years and really enjoyed it. However, this year, it coincides with the day I am supposed to do 20 miles (I am following the "three run a week schedule" as advertised by RW not long ago.
To combine the two, my idea is to set off at 10.03AM running away from the start line, run for three and a half miles, turn round and run back to the start line. When I get there, I should be about 3 minutes after everyone has set off. I will then run the HM and hope not to finish last.
This is a real long shot but is there anyone else who is going to be doing the same thing and will be running at between 8.15 and 8.25 per mile and would like to run with me?
