That's brilliant. I definitely like the idea of drinking by food in the form of smoothies- easy to do on the way to work.
I am going to try and sit down and plan it all out tomorrow. My fridge door is getting quite full with bits of paper. Training plans - RW articles - photos... definitely room for a menu too though.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's good to know that I am not the only one who resorts to a quick fix of food.
I have looked at a few different training plans and think I will 'frankenstein' my own together using the bits I like from each.
My husband has started to come out on his bike when I run. We joke that he is like the asian guy in 'Run Fatboy Run' and that I will have to get him a spatula so he can whack me whenever I get slow.
I am definitely going to have to look at my diet over the next few weeks. I am a poor excuse for a vegetarian and rely on quick foods that satisfy only for short periods of time.
Does anyone know of a good book or website that gives advice on diet plans to support training?
Without sounding really ignorant and naive, can I ask a question?
I have run lots of 5k races and at times over the last few years I have built up to running 10k reasonably comfortably but I am in no way completely dedicated to the sport (although I would like to be). My sister persuaded me to sign up for the Bristol Half which we now have confirmed places for.
Do you think it is possible for me to be race ready in 9 weeks considering I am really starting from a beginners level again?
I have run about 12 miles over the last four days and intend to do a long run on Sunday.
At the moment I feel like a tortoise and I am pretty certain a couple giggled when I ran past today.
Do you think I am pushing my luck with the time I have available?
Well... I have just got back from a run and other than feeling a bit achy and slow (and shocked that my running gear was a bit tight) I feel amazing.
I only managed about 4 k which is obviously a lot less than I used to manage but still better than nothing at all.
I have put my running stuff ready in the spare room and intend to go again as soon as I get in tomorrow.
Thanks so much for your advice and support - does anyone have any tips for how to keep on motivating myself? I read somewhere that you have to do something 42 times for it to become habit so I only have another 41 runs to go and if I feel as good as I do now, I look forward to it.
Thanks for the support. I know that I need to just get on and (in the words of a famous sports brand) "just do it" but it's incredible how destructive negative thoughts can be.
How quickly did you get back to your 'pre blip' fitness levels?
