Sounds horribly like the hull marathon! Organised by for profit organisations, scrimped on numerous issues! But at least the course was measured accurately. Tip of the week, stick to club organised races or big well established Maras! I did Paris this year, Brighton last year and Berlin or London with a bit of luck next... Pleased you all got back safe, under the circumstances it's very lucky there were no casualties
