At present the only 24 hour track race in the U.K. is the annual Tooting Bec race but following the success of the recent British Ultrafest which incorporated a 48 and 24 hour options I have decided to organise this one off event.
In May 1982 Gloucester A.C. athlete Dave Dowdle ran a remarkable 170 miles on the cinder track at Blackbridge, Gloucester. This was a new world record and has remained as a U.K. record with no runner getting anywhere near that distance since.
Until you have seen William in action it is hard to believe. I have been with him at the last 2 No Finish Line line events and it is a joy to see him in action. One very important thing is that he has a very good 'crew'. Alan Young id helping me organise the Ultrafest, he is the Race Entry Secretary and will be the Race Referee at the event. A very handy person to have on board!
