OH fantastic link and the Pathe News very enlightening. Thinking about all you marathon runners this weekend and feeling a bit envious. Taper well and enjoy. Joe, thoroughly commend Boston, not just for the race, it's an amazing place to visit. Were I to go again I'd take at least an extra week to soak it all up. Top tip, conserve on the first 10K downhill or you'll waste your legs for later!! Lyrics: Oh yes What: Plod Why: Mojo AWOL Last Rest: Sunday Last Hard: Saturday
Hi all, thanks for the positive affirmations ref coaching/motivating/encouraging. I know not to push kids too hard and never would. I do think it was a sour grapes job. Ale, he was indeed the complete antithesis of anyone/everyone I've come across in my, albeit quite limited, parkrun experience. Dustin, the young man concerned was very pleased to have run, enjoyed a hot chocolate at the end and told me he was looking forward to doing it again in a few weeks with his mum. He does cross country at school, enjoys running and finds most of what he does too short. His mum is going most weeks, he's been twice. I somehow doubt if Victor Meldrew's role model has ever volunteered.
So what race are you going to conserve and taper for Joe? Incredible running. LMH, listen to experts and keep inside your head under control this wek. You'll be fine. Looks like everyone had an interesting weekend. In for a few hours then off to do a few hours of interviewing, three candidates, then hopefully home for a jog
Lyrics: Not today What: Whatever I can Why: See above Last Hard: Sat Last Rest: Yesterday
Cracking running all round, well done all. Lyrics: Nope What: TKD Why: It's Sunday and recovering from yesterday Last Hard: Yesterday's black belt 6 monthly MoT Last Rest: Friday Paced friend's 12 year old on parkrun on Sturday to bring him in at 23.42 and was then castigated by grumpy old $%& we passed on the home straight that I was stupid and should not be pushing/motivating a youngster. As a qualified teacher/military instructor/martial arts instructor and trainer I was astonished at his vitriolic outburst at the end of a parkrun. None of his business, my protégé was far from pushed or distressed and can only put it down to his sour grapes. It was his 269th parkrun and he was a category or two above so maybe he was miffed that a youth could beat someone of his experience. On the flip side, someone alse my age came over and congratulated B on his performance and good nature and told me it was good to see youngsters being coached and pushed. Oh well, tapering for Madrid Half next weekend starts today
