I guess it will be Minni - we're using the same route as Maggie's do so are on the north side of the lochs all the way up. we've been talking about putting a race on it since we started organising races so in a way couldn't believe no-one beat us to it.
The guys and girls who ran it this year loved it and we think there's a gap in Scotland for something of this distance in between the 50s and the WHW race which is obviously the big one!
Thought I'd post details up about our new race in Scotland. This is now the third race we organise annually and we put it on this year as a test event with a small group of friends who loved it.
The Great Glen runs from Fort William to Inverness along a series of Glens (funnily enough) and even by Scottish standards the route is stunning. For anyone who has done the Loch Ness marathon, the GG is over the other side of the loch and is a wee bit higher than you get on the marathon!
Race starts at 1am on the 5th of July from Neptune's Staircase out side Fort William. Runners then have 24 hours to get to Inverness where we finish in the stadium on the track.
The race is designed to be run unsupported, with runners making use of drop bags at the checkpoints along the way.
all the info is on the website, www.greatglenultra.com, but feel free to ask questions on here or on our Facebook page.
X-Bionic do a clothing range called Fennec which is made from a reflective material and includes a bandana option. Its become a very popular choice of clothing for hot-weather ultra marathons like the Marathon des Sables.
