I did this race three years ago and it remained my 10k PB for two whole years. It was well organised and fairly fast. I am now booked to do it again and I hope that it will again be my PB

My first race was a 'women only' one. I chose it because it was aimed towards the beginner. It was a race like my later ones. I didn't really notice anything really different apart from the lack of men.

I think that the 'race for life' and others like it are useful to encourage women to be active, when it has been said that girls are more sedentary than boys.

I felt that the commentator straight after the collision, when he suggested that it was the runner's fault, was wrong. I agree with those who have said that it is silly to have runners and wheelchair racers merging together!

I hope the organisers take notice. But I suppose it might not make so good TV

I really enjoyed Brighton marathon, and the spectators were great and supportive. It made it more special beacause of this thread and meeting some forumites. So thank you to everyone. Snowmaiden and Poohbear were especially inspirational beacause of injury, they still did the marathon and were not defeated. They even signed up for next year with the target of vastly improving their time.

This is in contrast with some mocking I read on another thread, and juvenile writing (mentioning no names ).

I have decided that I definitely want to 'run' another marathon, but not Brighton next year. There are plenty of marathons all over the country, and I want to try out a few. But I will probably do Brighton again as it was great.

Terrible for all those involved.

How on earth can you increase the security for a marathon?
