The heat seems to have caught alot of us out, I was aiming for sub 4 this year (4.01 in 2010) and was on track at half way but then decided it was more important to finish than risk collapsing so backed off a bit - came in at 4.17. Well done to everyone for having a go and spectacular achievement those that got a pb in that heat - is there a 2012 thread yet....? |

| neilcoop, I'm only slightly quicker on a 'normal' half and thoroughly enjoyed this event last year - I think I added about an hour to my half marathon time doing this.. go on, you know you want too! |

Yep, every Sunday until race day, they start at 9 but different locations (details on the Brighton marathon website), last week was 12 miles along the seafront and this week it is along the river Adur from Shoreham... |

...Must admit I'm jealous reading of all your hotels. We will need to drive down on the day (and drive back as well) so I do have a question. Whats the parking like? Its ages since I was in Preston Park and then I parked next to it. This was last Century (1980's) and I'm thinking Yellow Lines might just have spread. I used the park & ride last year and although I know some problems were reported I found it all very straight forward and worry free. Parking in Brighton can be difficult at the best of times and it is only going to be harder during the Marathon...
I have managed to join the Sunday morning BM training runs for the last couple of weeks and for anyone local to Brighton I cannot recommend them highly enough. A bunch of enthusiastic local runners showing you around a route that I know I wouldn't normally run with Powerade and Cliff products at the end! |

| pgbear - I often find myself in the shorts minority as well although even I have now started wrapping up a bit more. The first thing for me is gloves as I hate having cold hands and it is only when I saw some recent race photos that I realised how ridiculous I looked wearing shorts, t-shirt and gloves (I felt fine though)! Now the temperatures are hovering around zero I wear running tights (happen to have Skins from last Christmas but other makes are available), a long sleeve technical top if running 'fast', warmer top layer if running slowly, and a woolly hat to keep my ears warm! |
