Hi Pixie...I've been stalking you too!! I saw you at Greenwich and you looked cool, calm and collected. This was my first marathon, and this thread saved my sanity. When I had tough days, it was good to know that others were having tough days too. The support and inspiration from this forum definitely helped with my preparation. All the great advice on training, nutrition, and mental preparation were invaluable. I was very lucky. My marathon went to plan, but only because of all the folk on this thread with their words of caution and wisdom. Especially the bit about not high 5ing the St John's ambulance people!! To all of you, I am truly thankful. Anyone who has not dedicated the time and effort to train for a marathon, has any right to belittle the efforts of those that have. I feel priviledged to be part of such an elite group of individuals! Having the guts and determination to get to the start line is one thing ...but to get to the finish no matter what happens along the way, is the stuff of heroes and legends. Well done Pix!! |
