Hi  Mark,

I read your last post with great interest.  Having looked at my training schedule I will adjust it as I beleive I am guilty of junk miles.  IMHO there are parallels to be drawn with the"Hanson Brooks " method in this months mag.  What would you advise the Top mileage for LSD prior to Taper?  Could you have a later taper at shorter long mileage ?  The Hanson method peaks at 16 miles.

 Thanks

Patrick

One of the benefits of the forum is the wide range of opinions and ways of training you encounter.  I suppose we are all right and all wrong.  What works for one is may be not for another.  For me I think variety is the key.

Mixing up your runs with fartleks, tempos, long runs, cross training and recoveries works for me.  Then you make minor adjustments as you tackle different race distances.

For marathons  I do more of the same but increase my long run by 10% to peak at 23 miles  and then taper from 3 weeks before race day.  But that's just me.  we all have our idiosyncratic ways.................don't get me started on Nutrician !!!!

Re: Marathon Bad decisions

I run for the other running club in Sunderland.  However I wish I had a £1 for every time a wag shouted "Catch the bus ! " as we run by .

Yeah I agree.  If the organisers leave it too late people will look elsewhere or commit to other shorter events on the same day.   Hope we hear something soon.............when I do I will pot it on here !!
