Anyone know if there are any showers at event or at a nearby swimming pool/leisure centre type place?

Pity its a pb course as I want to break mine but this is my Mothers swansong marathon so doing it at her pace thankfully!

No there was no medal this year which I was gutted about as last years was really nice and like you say a great logo.

Disappointing goodie bag this year really, a cheap cotton t shirt, a muscle rub sample, a small bottle of water and an out of date magazine. Oh and a copy of last weeks local paper and some leaflets.

They didn't have the second timing chip to see who was quickest up that steep hill this year either.

Great race though but like you say tough.

Cheers,

I especially like the idea of being able to race during training as I do enjoy half marathons and also like to do the local 10ks.

Now there is a HM I really want to do the week before my marathon. It's a tough hilly Yorkshire course so it isn't fast, in fact it has been calculated as having only 200m of flat section! If everything else is going ok should it be ok to do it or is that sheer stupidity? If I do it should I just take it steady or is it ok to give it a blast that close to a marathon?

Thanks for emailing me the training plan!

It looks so simple and achievable compared to many that I have looked at. Also I already do more than the first weeks anyway so that gives me hope.

Is it better to follow Plan 1 or Plan 2 which has an extra days training?

Its obvious this plan must work from all the posts on here so I want to get cracking ASAP!!!

Hi,

I want to do the opposite. First marathon is 20 weeks currently run 3-4 times a week with weekly mileage of 25-30 miles  and i am just starting to do some planned training.

However there is a half marathon I really want to do exactly one week before the marathon. Will i be ok to do it as a planned run? Should I take it steady or run it hard?  I regularly run half marathons but have never done a full one yet.
