I had a look at the numbers. I notice under 10,000 finished.
How many actually entered the Marathon does anybody know ?
Fiona - Sounds like you are very organised and have a busy schedule. I need to do the same and look at my diary and get some races booked.
Interesting thing is looking at everybody's splits we all seemed to have very similar times for each split, so I guess the fatigue we felt later on that caused the pace to slow is pretty normal for us lot anyway.
Pace just kept dropping of bascially but was reasonably consistent until 21 mile and splits upto 30k are quite close ranging from 8.2 to 8.5 minute / mile pace.
That sounds pretty good SJB, the problem can be keeping the motivation going for a long time and it can be hard training over the winter. Why don't you build on what you've already done, get some speed work in and aim for an autumn marathon? There's some good one's on in october! Good luck with the training WR
To be honest I did consider that but I reckon I won t be able to build any speed between now and autmn if I m training for a marathon and having to do LSR as they will leave me too exhausted to do quality speed work in the week. I feel as a novice I have nt got a big aerobic fitness base to fall back so to do a Marathon in Autumn I would have to work hard to complete the LSR's at the expense of making any progress with speed work if that makes sense.
I m hoping by splitting the year up into 10k, HM and FM training and throwing races in along the way to keep motivation up I should be able to keep interest high all year or thats the theory anyway.
