I have had my eye this event for a few years but a growing family has meant that i have not have the time available to dedicate to train for such a long distance event. From what i have seen the event does sell out each year.
You could give them a call and ask whether you are able to defer entry if you do sustain an injury.
Well around March i decided that i should really join a running club as i was entering into a race about once a month. I saw that the Run Britain web site offered membership to their UKA affiliated club, this seemed perfect as i run for personal reasons and didn't really want to join a club that had meetings as it would mean making special efforts to attend. This wasn't a good idea as the reason i started running was because it fitted in with my hectic life. I could go running at 5:30 in the morning or 10pm all depending on what i was doing.
However, i entered the Chara Challenge, a 15/30mile cross country trek carrying 32lbs, so didn't really go online to the Run Britain website as i wasn't entering the average road race. I have completed that and have started road running again. I know i am a member of an affiliated club, or at least think i am, but do not know my membership number.
Does anyone know what has happened to this online running club????
Well i have set out to complete a fair few challenges this year. The first was to run for longer than 18mins. Done that. The second was to enter into a race. Done that, i entered the Dalwood 3 hills 10 mile and finished with a time of 2:30. Then it is to run a 10k. Done that, i entered the Bournemouth Bay 10k and completed it in 59:30 so i'm a happy chappy and all is going well
I have a few more races booked in but i REALLY REALLY want to run a marathon. I have been looking at marathons to enter and stumbled accrossthe Eden Project Marathon in October. I thought to myself.....October is a fair bit away, long enough to train for. Now i don't want championship times just to complete it.
There was a thread for last years race so thought i'd start this years one. So the question is, are you going to enter it and do you think i'm crazy wanting to do this as my first one?
It'd be good to hear from people in the same sort of ability as myself but any advice is much welcomed.
How did the Grizzly go??? I will be entering it next yer for sure. I dod the Bournemouth Bay 10k last weekend and got a time of 59:30 which i was chuffed with.
I have got the Zig Zag 10k in my sights at the end of this month and then a few more, gonna try and finish the year off with the Eaden Project Marathon in October so got to keep focused and keep getting out and running.
havent been this week as i have had a crap week but i will be back out next week. What event have you got planned?
