So just completed my mara yesterday. Happy with the result although would have liked 2 mins quicker had tailwind in bottle and filled that up at about 17 miles. Also had jelly babies. Didn't feel as though I bonked but I did get cramp in the last 4/5 miles and had to stop numerous times. Am I still not getting enough salt or magnesium? Do people take supplements? My legs were very heavy at the end and I slowed down quite a bit. Every time I tried to go a bit faster I got cramp. I have never suffered from this before. Also got 2 blisters which I don't normally get. Hard work for the last 10 miles. Definitely feeling the after effects now
well Abingdon marathon done and dusted and my qualifier in the bag. 4h22. I was aiming to go under 4h20. Which would have been a pb for me since my last stand alone marathon 4 years ago but it was not to be. Training had gone well and I felt good on the day but I just couldn't hold on after about 16 miles. Then in the last 4 miles I kept having to stop for cramp which I've never suffered from before. Also 2 blisters which I also don't suffer from!!! Anyway I'm happy with that and looking forward to a large glass of wine later????
