I'm in a bit of a pickle right now in relation to my weekly mileage. I've been stuck on the 11-13 miles for the past 3 weeks, 1st & 2nd Week- 13 miles 3rd Week- 11 miles
I have however managed to beat my longest run, now am able to run a 10K fairly comfortably, not straight without stops. My question is this, is it possible to run less than 3 times the race distance and still do OK? Running has started to become a bit of a struggle, and I would like some reassurance that this is just a blip in my training.
Am in the Swansea Bay 10K, which will be my first 10K. x |

I'm a complete beginner really, but I've been running since late May now, and have done my first 5k last Sunday. Today I am aiming for my longest run ever, 4 miles!
What:4 miles Why: Training for 1st 10K Last hard: Today Last rest: Yesterday |

Hey Paul,
This is only the beginning, it does get better! I'm also a newbie, well sort of, I did my first 5k & race ever on Sunday and I've never felt better for it. Like you I could barely do a mile before, but I kept pushing through and gradually, can now manage a few miles. Don't worry about walking once or twice round the lap, that's better than nothing. I would do what others suggest to start off with, try the beginners 5k schedule, find a race, get running shoes, etc,
Good luck! |
