I witnessed, and agree with what most people are posting on here, but thankfully I managed to finish just before the congestion at the end.
My gripe is the knowledge and attitude of some of the marshalls around the ICC pre race. I saw several people asking where to leave baggage, and they just got a 'dunno' and a couldn't care less shrug of shoulders! I ended up directing them myself and also informing the marshalls where the baggage area is.
On a positive note, the marshall on the corner of the Hagley road as you turn in for the home straight was fantastic! He was giving massive encouragement to everyone and really helped me push on in that final mile!
Overall, for me the day was a very enjoyable experience with a great atmosphere around the course. I will definitely be back next year!
I have been running for a little while now but never any great distance.
I have entered the Birmingham half marathon (my first one) at the end of October and I'm currently running 4 times a week on a variety of terrains and usually run about 10-12k reasonably comfortably.
My question is... I have just spotted the Kenilworth half marathon which is approx 7 weeks away, and after reading forums it seems it is quite hilly? Has anybody on here run it? And, is it a bit difficult for a first timer with limited time to train?
