Free- yes I will definitely see you at the green start
O4S- we must be talking about different hills in Dorset... mine were steep! I've only done one ultra (35m in Northumberland) but 27m in Dorset took me the same time on feet... So I consider it to be ultra as well! I've done lots of back to backs running long on Saturday and Sunday.
2Old- I won't be racing VLM but probably won't be allowed to just happily jog along either... I think I will aim for something like 3.35 but to be confirmed. My training really hasn't been that different from mara training with more long runs and back to backs and no MP sections in long runs. Oh and I've been doing quite a lot of s&c in the gym. I haven't noticed any major differences but what it firmly confirmed in my mind is that I feel best and improve most on high mileage. I'm done attempting the 'quality over quantity' approach, it doesn't suit me. I think I'm a lot like Chick in this respect.
Barry- exciting stuff with the tri coming up!
Chick- I think Sayonaras are a bit like Hitogamis? I love my hitogamis
10m steady done this morning. Gym and intervals planned for tomorrow.
AA- sorry I missed you in Reading (Mr Brol said he saw you) and sorry it didn't go to plan but as others have said no surprise after having been so sick. Forget it and move on. You must be getting excited for Boston.
Carrot- OMG you are flying girl!!! I'm with Free- super excited about what you are going to pull out of the hat in London.
Free- I'm excited for you as well, you're going great- what's the target for London?
2Old- congrats on the podium! Speedy as always.
DD- safe travels bet you will be glad to be home!
Nell- very speedy moderate running indeed.
Chick- knocking out some good mileage there I see!
O4S- Dorset hills are fab (ouch).
My comrades training has all been going to plan. Ran 1:35 in Reading on Sunday which is what I hoped for with all the miles in the legs and no taper. I always seem to forget that there are a few hills in Reading, not sure why as I've done it quite a few times so should know better!
Now it's back to slow running until the big day. I have Exmoore Mara booked in on 11th April, then London (not raced all out) and Pembrokeshire 35m ultra on 2nd May... and that's that. It's getting closer now!
Nell/ McHilly- yes, it's the Dorset CTS along the Jurrasic coast. I am getting slightly freaked out as everyone is telling me it's going to take ages. I also roped MrBrol into doing the half, he doesn't do long distances and I think he might kill me.
AA- that's not a bad 5k effort so soon after 2 maras.
Rest day today for me or rather 1h strength session in the gym after work- yawn. I need those legs to get strong for comrades. Battersea 10k on Saturday.
Free- great racing in those conditions you really should be made up! A long run yesterday was enough for me in that rain, can't imagine racing...
Another xc for me on Saturday- total mud fest as expected. 10k planned for this Saturday and Dorset mara next week. I'm a bit apprehensive about that one...not sure I quite understand what I'm getting myself into. But I'm sure it will be fine...
