I agree, don't be too hasty to run in the dark. Stick to the treadmill in the gym for now. Probably a good idea to join a club then you get safety and motivation all in one go by running with a group. Good on yer for the enthusiasm. Baldi
You can do it! I am recently restarting after 4 years out and i put on 4 stone too in that period. Don't judge yourself on what you was like before, don't beat yourself up. It will come in time. Maybe if you try running when you are at your freshest, i go early in the morning these days as i can't be arsed after work. Stick at it, Baldi
You have'nt failed at all. I think you may have just overtrained a bit and got a bit bored. Just a little setback. I must say i think that running club you named attitude sucks. Wonder how many of them could run a 90 minute half marathon when they first started? Those 6 months you did are in the bank now, you are ready to go again.
Saturday: Decided to clean out my old t-shirt draw as non of them fit any more anyway. Disgusted to find the most recent shirt was the GNR 2001. Has it really been almost 4 years since i run? Saturday evening: Sat in front of computer and made myself out a 6 month training schedule starting at 5 miles per week and increasing by 1 mile per week. Long run on Sunday and 2x short ones on the treadmill Tuesdays and Thursdays. With the relevent rest days in between. Not even going to think about racing or time till i can comfortably manage 20 miles per week. "Time on my feet" and "Aerobic base" is all that i need at the mo. Sunday: Got up early and went into the local park. Gently jogging for 2.5 miles in about 43 minutes. It was raining and slippy but i felt great!! Why the hell did i ever stop??
