Has anyone decided to follow the sub 4 plan in the latest edition of runners world? According to their marathon plan generator this is what I should be aiming for despite my current PB being 4H48 which seems a little optimistic. However looking at the plan it doesn't actually look too difficult, did anyone else think this might not be enough training? It is based on time rather than distance which takes you up to 3hrs and the weekday runs are generally interval sessions. I kept an old editions sub 4H plan which is a lot more mileage, obviously I'd like to follow the easier one but is it enough?!

Hi guys,

Got my GNR pack through very exciting! I was just wondering if anyone knows if there'll be pacers this year? I didn't see anything in the pack about it and thought maybe cause there are so many runners it wouldn't be feasible but I would like to try one if they are there!

Thanks,

Emily

Hi Lee,

I am lucky enough to have not had many aches and pains since I started running more seriously 18 months ago, however after seeing pictures/videos of me running I look pretty unnatural and I feel quite sluggish on my feet. I was considering trying to convert to pose/barefoot running to improve my efficiency, I am encouraged by the fact you said it could take around 6 weeks to convert but I was wondering whether you think calf pain is a part of the process cause every time I try to land on my mid foot my calves give out in a few minutes. I also thought about trying nike frees to make it easier and wondered what your opinion is on them?!

Thanks,

Emily

Hi all,

I am considering signing up for Dublin after completing the VLM this year I would like to better my time of 4H48 to 4H30. A lot of my (Irish) friends from work are already entered so feeling a bit of peer pressure! I was wondering if anyone knows if there are pacers at Dublin? Messed up my target time in VLM as I set off too fast and it was a struggle from mile 6 so do not want a repeat of that!

Thanks,

Emily

I have a Garmin F60 (non GPS) watch with a foot pod. I generally run outside but have been adding more speed sessions on the treadmill recently. I was wondering if the pace is still accurate on the watch as the treadmill pace was 10kph which as far as I know equates to 10 min miles however my watch recorded me running at 9:25 min miles. Who do I believe?!

Thanks,

Emily
