Did my first (only) marathon in May. Spent the summer training my wife for her first GSR, then entered this about 6 weeks ago, then twisted my knee the very next day so haven't run since.
Hope to get back out this weekend. Was originally aiming for a PB (which isn't that fast at 2:05) but may have lost too much over the summer with this latest lay off, so maybe just get around and enjoy it, have to see how training goes in next few week.
This is probably the crunch for me if the body breaks down again this time, then I think it will be time to gracefully accept I'm getting on and buy a bike
I'm running my third time in order to encourage my wife who's doing this as her first big run.
Two pieces of advice 1) don't forget to enjoy it the crowds are amazing & 2) save some engery for the last two miles if it's windy (it normally is) the last two miles are straight into the wind (but the course is dead flat so that a bonus)
