I was delighted with my time on Sunday 2.55.46. But always wanting more I had kept an eye on my splits on my garmin the whole way round and at mile 25 my average was reading 6.38's. Thinking I was cruising my pb which was 2.55.21 and an average of 6.42's I though I was home and dry. obviously some kind of false reading had happened on the watch because even after a 6.23 at mile 25 and 6.40 at 26 my average official pace was 6.42!. Garmin was measuring 26.56 miles.
I averaged 35mpw for my VLM this year. Everyone's different. I got round in 2.55 without to much trouble to be honest. Higher mileage isn't always the way forward. Of my 4 marathons I've followed the same pattern and got under 3 hrs 3 times and the worst one was 3.04. Quality training over quantity in my book.
It's getting close to imaginary injury time with the taper coming up. I'm not as motivated as I was the 1st time I ran London, I keep telling myself to remember what it was lIke around curry sark last time, that made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
15W. Yeah I'm FGFA. Im number 32749. I have ducked under from pen2 into pen1 before. The security was a piece of red and white tape at chest height, I waited until the 2 ladies looked way then I made my move!!!. think after I had eased myself closer it took me 4 seconds to cross the line.
