Hi all I was a Marshall today and I'd just like to say thanks for everyone taking part today and the number of runners who said thanks on the way round. It's a new race and I'm sure the organisers will take feedback on board for next year. Hope everyone enjoyed it (despite the awful weather - I was soaked through with waterproofs on!) and hope everyone will be back next year in the sunshine.
Some of the fittest people about are Triathletes so maybe follow a Tri training schedule for a bit and see how you get on. I agree with Radicchio to try weight training too.
Hi Nikki You really need to be up to 20 miles comfortably 1 month before your marathon. I'd say sort your injury out first. No race is worth a long lay off from running. Hope that helps. (ps I think we used to be work colleagues - I am the cost manager at that firm in Northampton)!
This was first half and I thought it was brilliant. Well organised, loads of water/lucozade, good marshals and great crowd. Similar to BUPA organised runs. Bit squashed at start but you will always get that with big events. I would do it again.
I would not expect a small charity race to have chip timing. Keep the entrance fee lower instead. I think being better organised with water etc is much more important. Personally I also like a medal but I'm probably in a minority with that one!
