Thank you non-runner! I'm so releaved to have finished all my long runs and although feel a bit sad not to have been out running today as it was such a lovely day, I'm sure I'll be fine. I think I'm going to do just that; let it happen en take it easy. The fitness is there, just have to make sure I feel good on the day now. Went out for a nice walk with the family today and that was good too after abandoning them for so many runs in the past months. My children don't really recognise me at the moment unless I'm in running gear...Bring on the vitamin C!!

Thank you Gul Darr,

Feeling ok this morning, but not doing run today, see how I am toorrow. I really want to do marathon well as I've just turned 40 and won't do another one until I'm 50!! Too much training with two little children running around...my husband has had to put up with  me and my training schedule for the last few months so really don't want to let him down either!! It's my own little birthday-present to myself (or would you call it a mini-midlife-crisis) and I'm quite excited about being in the 40+ category in a bizarre way!

I hope you feel better soon, good luck with the half marathon, hope you won't have to drop out. I'm going to see what the next few days bring..

Hello, I know the 'having a cold' topic has been discussed much in the past, but I'm two weeks off running the Amsterdam marathon, and now feel like I have a cold coming on. Have taken vitamin C and am probably in denial of it.. What should I do? I should do a 10km fast tomorrow and am already tapering down so haven't got any long runs to go before the race. I'm desparate to run this marathon, as I won't do another one for at least 10 years and have worked really hard for this one. Hoping to run between 3.45 and 4 hours. Please give me all advice you can (and tell me I'll be ok..) Thank you, Marijke

Just finished 13 mile run, Kept it fairly flat and all has gone well I think. No pain before I ran, and nothing during, so my few days rest and bike-ride rather than run yesterday must have done the trick. Thank you for your advice, needed to hear that is was ok to run again!

Thank you Mick and Gazmanmeister! I was expecting lots of advice about resting for weeks on end, but your advice is what I probably needed to hear. I didn't run today, went for a short bike-ride with children on bike and haven't even felt a twinge all day. So I think I might give a short run a go tomorrow, or a long bike-ride and then get back into my runs. I did a 10km up- and downhill race a couple of weeks ago. The run last week was only 6 miles, but I did speedwork mostly on the downhill stretches of about half a mile at a time. I think all it is is muscle ache but I wasn't sure if I could then develop this into a proper injury. Will see how the next few days go. Thank you
