I would imagine that walking the course would be great fun in such wonderful weather.
Doing it for the laugh would be o.k too.
Maybe I'm a bit of a whimp, but I really suffered in the last 6-8 miles.I'm not too good with really hot weather. I did run the whole course and I felt fine the next day but I was glad when it was over,I also said the usual "never again" but that's the first time I've actually meant it.
I used to run for Fairlands valley spartans. I actually ran this one year myself. It took me just over 5 hours
It is a good off road Marathon but it is hard work.
It goes through a lot of fields and the views are lovely.
The BBQ is nice at the end too.
Usually it is very, very hot and you are given a sheet with directions to follow.
I ran this with a group of people who had ran in the race before,so I just followed them,( very useful )
For me personally, I would not like to do it as a first ever marathon.
The distance is difficult enough as it is,to run that course in the heat trying to follow instructions would have put me off. If you know someone who knows the course, then great. But it was hard work.
