Oh dear. I decided to play it safe and skip my run yesterday. I had no niggles but i just thought i would skip a day anyway. Seem to have sprained a muscle in my back (again) while putting on my pyjamas.
When will I learn to do some core work /sigh?
Will miss runs until i'm sure it's better. Thankfully it's a LOT less than the last time. In other news I've caught a cold from the twins. Right now it is in my head but theirs are chesty coughs so I imagine that is where mine is headed. Looks like the 20 mile race this weekend might be a waste of £25.
Some good points raised above. I did ask for charity money so i could run the VLM last year. Key points in my defence. When I signed up for it:
I was 16.5 stone (only 5'11" and well in to obese range according to BMI)
I had been smoking for over 20 years
I couldn't run 50 metres without feeling sick
I did raise what my charity asked me to raise for the spot and I did finish the VLM (4:05 for anyone that cares).
Thing is, I _still_ felt like a total charlatan. The reality is that I had tried to get in to the VLM on 4 prior occasions via ballot and failed. I really did want to do the marathon itself and used the charity route to do so.
So, even though it was a monumental challenge for me to do the marathon I am still dubious as to whether I did the right thing by caving in to the charity route. I mean, it's something i really wanted to do anyway and I will reap the rewards of a longer life because of it!
I felt bad enough that I am going to give the charity a chunk of my own cash this year - can you pay off guilt?
