A huge congrats Mel that is an amazing time. I hope you are now basking in the sunshine. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed Paris experience and that was really my key worry as I have often doubted my ability in shorter runs. I dug deep when I started getting blisters at 15 miles and when the quads were aching but I just told myself its going to be tough so keep working. The crowds got me through it but I also have to say thinking of your story and I made it.. In under my real target of 5 hours....4.51 and am so happy that it was such a great experience.  Enjoy the rest and thank you for sharing your running story over the past few months. S x

Hi Mel

Thank you for sharing your journey it has helped me in my training so much to know that its ok to have ups and downs with a plan.

You really are a power of strength and while I cant imagine how difficult it is to be travelling without Martin for the first time. He is there watching over and very proud.

I'll keep my eyes open for you on the course...enjoy and have fun. I think the my nerves will only subside after a few miles.  Sending you all the luck for your marathon adventure.

Hi Mel,

So sorry to hear you have come down with stomach bug. I hope after resting today you start to feel more like yourself tomorrow.  I think all the nerves are starting for me this week. I woke with a sore throat yesterday but forced myself out for 3.5 mile run. I felt slow and unfit (like you mentioned in your thread). Is this a normal response after all our weeks of heavy training?

For Sunday, I would love to think I will come in around 4.30ish but who knows...if the sun comes out I could be closer to 6 hours....

Hi Mel, I'm sorry to read that you are having some foot and knees pains. Hopefully, the enforced rest will help and it will surely help your body recover after all the great training you have done over the last few months.  Your story is so inspirational that even with my fears of getting around the 26 miles I think I will have a lot to ponder on the streets of Paris. Hopefully our paths will cross on the day but if not I have no doubt you will conquer this challenge and have inspired lots of us on the forum to keep going.

Hi wiggle worm,

Wow London will be a great first marathon. I supported last year and found the day inspirational...unfortunately my ballot entry wasnt in my favour for this year. Yes, Paris my first marathon and at the moment I'm saying only one, but who knows.

I hope the remainder of your training goes well. Have you more long runs to do?
