Great experience again. Really enjoyed it. Was warmer than I expected which didn't help but managed to knock over a minute off my PB, getting round in 1.48.38.
Thought the crowd support was excellent this year, a bigger turnout than previous couple of years, one positive effect of the weather conditions. Didn't see as many funny costumes but I think that was because I was starting in Orange C rather than White E last year. Did pass a bloke in a cow costume after 11 miles!
Quickfire question folks - I know the start time is roughly 10am having run the race last two years but I can't find any confirmation of the offical start time either in my starter pack or on the website?
Am I being very unobservant? Anyone know the start time?
Hi Kate, I have run it twice and saw a pacer in 2012 but none last year. That said I wasn't specifically looking for them.
In 2012 I ran 1.53.15 and I passed a 2 hour pacer around halfway. I was running ahead of schedule aiming for sub 2 hours so I reckon they might have set off quicker than ideal if someone was looking to follow them with the aim of dipping under two hours.
Suppose you could always use a stopwatch and monitor your pace to aim for 9-minute miles to run about 1.57/1.58 but other than that I don't know what to suggest.
