we are actually staying in co. durham so a little out the area because we plan on making a weekend of it. think the plan will be to travel up nice and early, find somewhere for the car then the family can leave me and try and jump on the metro to south shields, does that sound ok?
I dont mind sitting in traffic after the race im not too bothered about that bit, im staying over and traveling back on the monday anyway. there must be a route to south shields that isnt blocked off even if its a little out the way. im hoping to get dropped off for at least 9am so that should give them at least 3-4 hours to find a way through to the finish
I think what I am most likely to do is get dropped off at the bus stop at haymarket and me walking to the start then my family can stop in the car and make their way straight over to south shields for the finish, I would imagine they could find parking somewhere if they are early enough and just wait for me there to finish
hi guys, i'm due to run the great north run next month and I was just wondering how easy it is for spectators to get around (from the start to the finish) because i would imagine theres going to be a million people all trying to do the same thing, has anybody else ever done it and how easy is it to get to the finish using public transport? - Sorry if there is already a thread on this ive had a look and couldnt see one
