Thanks MP, I have 5 or so days to recover so hopefully will have knocked the cold on the head by then - guess i will plan a run where i can add a 2 miles loop right at the finish which i can add on if feeling good - thanks again
Hi everyone, just a quick post asking for some advice. I'm running a marathon for the first time in three weeks and have been following the runners world sub 4 plan. Up til now, all has been going smoothly and I completed every session (up to a longest run of 21 miles last weekend)
However, on the weekend just passed i hit a bit of a problem. I had a slight cold on friday but thought i was well enough to do my long (20 mile) run on saturday. However from pretty early on i didnt feel right and after about 7/8 miles my cold had got a lot worse and felt like i had no energy or strength in my legs. Therefore i decided to end the run after 10 miless (the end of the loop) and go home, where i rested for that day and the next.I went out this morning for 3 miles and felt a lot better so i was wonderng whether i should just put saturday down to experience and stick to the plan for the next three weeks (last long run of 18 miles this coming weekend and then taper) or try to do some more miles this week (pos a 20 mile run this weeked) to make up for it - my instinct is for the former....
@andyc209 - yes i had garmin on and it said it was 13.1 - the mile markers were't always alligned with by watch, but by the end it all worked out - its here if you can access it - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/283265997 - although im sure the hill was bigger than the garmin says!
