Finished in 69 minutes which was above expectation especially considering the undulating course. I can see what RW meant by “tough hills”. Hobs Hole Lane is definitely going to remain in the memory for next time.
The course is enjoyable and it is not a boring flat course. You have to think your way round which makes for an entertaining race.
Marshalling was excellent and they did a fantastic job of controlling the traffic and encouraging runners. Sign posting to the venue was excellent and the dedicated free multi storey car park was a nice touch. Liked the finish arena too which prompted a sprint finish.
My only suggestion for improvement would be to have mile markers in addition the km markers and if the budget allows for it then a t-shirt would be nice.
Overall an excellent race and I look forward to coming back to try and get under the 60 min mark.
Just read the brief intro on the RW Central Events update e-mail "RW says: Dig deep for the tough hills in this road race through varied scenery, and you can look forward to a unique memento at the finish."
I knew there were a few hills but didn't realise they were in the "tough" category. Just looked at blakeman_5897 log on Garmin Connect and the 4.5m to 5.5m hill looks tough. Looking at last years results I will definitely be in the last few. I will be doing well if I maintain a 11.30 pace.
As a diabetic I am interested in learning more about the properties of honey and the impact on blood sugar levels. I understand it has a medium GI level. Any diabetics who use honey?
