A little background first. About 10 months ago i was training hard to do some 10k events that were on over summer when i had a minnor knee problem that flared up when i ran. That pain lasted for a couple of weeks. Once that settled down i found that the first run i did after that i had a lot of pain in my right hip.
The pain doest appear to be in the hip joint but rather on the side of my hip where the glute joins onto the hip.
I had seen a few low level physios and the like and tried a cortisone in the hip bursa which only made things worse. I then ended up with pain in the hip joint itself which hurt everytime i walked.
I am now seeing one of the best sports doctors / physio team available. They recommended a cortisone into the hip joint itelf. It fixed my walking issue but still showed the underlying Hip/Glute issue.
I have had an MRI which has showed no damage to the hip joint or surrounding area.
Im doing heaps of leg / hip strengthening as i can see that i have deficiencies there. As im getting stronger im getting more frustrated as im not seeing massive improvements in the hip even though the area around it feel much stronger and more stable.
Most daily activities are fine now although when i try and run it flares back up again. It seems to be all impact related excersises still cause a lot of pain. For example if i jumped off something and landed on my right leg fairly straight it would be very painful.
Im thinking it may be tendonitis of the glute muscle that joins onto the hip but am unsure. Ill continue to work with my doctors and physios but thought i would see if anyone else has had similar issues or has some ideas on ways to get over hip tendonitis if infact it is that.
