Glen Clova was good Elspeth. just over the 2hr mark which was fine as i've been struggling with a right calf strain and it really started hurting after 9 miles. mile times are quite funny, roughly 8:30 for 9 miles and then 10:30 for the remaining 4.
but a great hilly course, elevation gain of 393ft according to garmin. i seem to cope better going up hill rather than down. the second half seemed a little easier to me
right leg is quite sore today but sister-in-law is visiting and is a fully qualified accupuncturist so may get some needs later on.
not posted in ages but been catching up this morning. One week FFB - fantastic. it will be such an adventure. good clip on STV but funny how they can't get their numbers right even after speaking with you.
off to glen clova for the half marathon today. almost got the day completey wrong as i thought the race was tomorrow but thankfully managed to get cover for the tennis coaching i normally do so will be heading off in a little while. i don't think the snow has arrived up there quite yet!!
fantastic MrsMac. An amazing effort. your 312 miles is 70% of the mileage i have logged ALL YEAR!!! and i thought i was doing okay this year....
managed to get an entry into Glen Clova half last night. entries opened at 1900 last night and sold out by 2130. so quite pleased to get that one in. will be my fourth half for the year but loch katrine still my favourite.
was meant to be running it with MrsLB but unfortunately she has ruptured her calf muscle whilst playing tennis last week and is currently hobbling around on crutches. she is so frustrated at missing out and it is her first injury so she is going through all the feelings of despair at not being able to train. just need to ensure the recovery goes well so we can still run the marathon next year. thankfully plenty time until then so full recovery should be possible.
good 6.5 miles this morning. hot again though which is great. makes the run much more enjoyable when the sun is shining. we'll just skip over how much harder the hot weather makes the running!!
only 16 miles MrsMac?? is that all
finally took the plunge last night - Mrs LB and I have entered next years Edinburgh Marathon. It will be our very first attempt at the distance and all for the 'bargain' price of £52.95. So I'll be hassling all of you experts for your tips on how to tackle the first marathon. stressed about it already!!
'move yer arse' is one of my favourite phrases that i mutter to myself on the tennis court!! usually as i've just watched the ball fly past me very motivational as well.
good 6.5 miles this morning when it was still hot despite the haar being quite thick.
as long as this thread keeps working and avoids the troubles the rest of the forum appears to be having we'll be okay!!
one more day of work and then we're off on our holidays. week down in center parcs with the outlaws and other relatives. never been before so i have no idea of what to expect. should manage some nice early morning runs though as there will be plenty of people to entertain the kids.
