Don't forget your toes take a right pounding on the downhills too.
Chatting to my lovely physio this eve (went for a massage) and he agreed with Ben, re electrolyte level and hypothermia. I have now got to the stage where I am thinking I quit too easy but I know at the time it definately didn't feel easy and I have to remember that. But from never ever again comes..well maybe I can actually nail this if I work on my fuelling.
But in the mean time I will look around for a few 'shorter' distances to practice with!
Thanks Ben, on hindsight my fuelling was probably not good but hindsight is a wonderful thing to learn from...that and useful advice on here. I think I should have had put the electrolyte in my bladder and plain water in the bottle rather than the other way round. I tend to drink from the bladder more frequently than a bottle.
Ben...that could be a nail on the head moment! I am typically naff with electrolytes and tried to make a consious effort to keep sipping SIS Energy but I think I might have need more sipping. I think I should have fuelled better anyway especially in the early part when it's easier to get down. I tried to get a sandwich down at Ditchling Beacon but it was like eating cotton wool, yuk!
Well done GKD...glad it went well for you and well done every one that made it to the start.
