I feel like a wimp listening to all your stories of the 33 miler - having only run / walked the 17! I headed up with 3 others - 2 of whom are very experienced unlike my friend and I for whom this was just our second run of this kind.
We were guided by one of our experienced friends who made sure we stayed steady and walked the steeper sections. As road runners this it will always be difficult to accept that walking is not only ok but is sometimes the best policy. It certainly was on this occasion as I was pretty beat at the end and would really have struggled if I had tried to push on a bit more up the hills.
We both really loved it though and will definitely be back next year - hopefully able to run a little more!
To what degree do you need to be able to follow the map / directions to complete this course? My skills in both are rubbish so if managed to lose sight of a fellow runner I am worried I could be stuck ...
