Hi,

For all you people that have used both a 205/305 and now a 405 can you comment on how the devices pick up and hold the GPS signal? Does the 405 acquire any quicker than the 305, and does it maintain the signal lock better when the signal gets week?

I have a 305 and I have never had a problem with this and i'm sceptical about seeing much improvement.

Thanks!

I'm not actually sure it's in the wild anywhere yet..the Garmin website is stating 2nd Quarter 2008, no online retailers seem to have stock and no one in various forums has one as far as I can see. I'm not sure if it really isn't available yet or they've done that Garmin thing of only shipping about 12 devices to start with !

I agree with Stuart G here. This is probably one of the weakest points of RW, the reviews. I would be loathed to buy anything after reading a review in RW to be honest, even the regular shoe reviews. Somebody mentioned it above, you often feel that they haven't gone away with the product and given it a thorough real life way. Case in point, this month they choose the best summer kit, though absolutely no indication is really given as to exactly why the choices were made in each category, or how extensively the kit was used before the decision was made. The Garmin 405 review seems pretty pointless to me, i don't really get much from it. My 305 acquires a signal in <30 secs and I live in London. Isn't it usual to quote the 'time to first fix' for warm and cold starts for these type of comparisons for example? This may well be a great device, but the review doesn't help me at all.

Ok, that was tending towards rant - sorry !

I just really want one that stocks the whole Brooks range, has an online presence and would ship to the UK. Thanks for the heads up about about runnersworld.de, I never realized there was a German version. I just knew about the UK and US sites. I'll mosey over and take a look !

Hi,

Does anyone know of any reliable online shops for running gear based in Germany (who ship to the UK)? The reason, there are a couple of items that a certain manufacturer doesn't distributein the UK but are still availabe over there.

Ta !
