Got back on Saturday after a 5 day delay getting out of Antarctica. Huge issues with flights and Iberia to get home which was not easy to sort out from Antarctica. Eventually just got flights organised and will now try to sort it out via insurance if we can't persuade them to allow the change of flights at no cost. Also a sponsor came forward and offered to pay the costs.
Anyway I triumphed
Marathon, run in -30 with 10 mph wind with soft snow underfoot.
Time 5:47:53, 4th lady and 16th overall (53 finishers).
100k, run in -12 to -15 with 6mph winds, in white out with a lot of soft thick snow underfoot.
Time: 17.19.51, 1st lady , 3rd overall beaten only by 2 professional sponsored athletes.
Did negative split in the marathon and knocked 15 mins of my lap time in the last 10k of the ultra after doing consistent times throughout (and caught everyone on the hop at the finish line).
My ultra time was the 2nd fastest for a woman on the course which is pretty good given it was the worst conditions they have ever run it in.
Blog entries will start to trickle out shortly as will a photo album.
